dsc_0098More than 600,000 volunteers around the world have packaged meals through Stop Hunger Now’s meal packaging program.  It is a fun, hand’s on mission project that is suitable for all ages. You can host an event to mark any occasion. Our assembly process combines rice, dal (lentils), dehydrated vegetables and a vitamin sachet including 23 essential vitamins and minerals into small meal packages. These meal packages are shipped throughout India to support feeding programs in schools and other institutions as well as for crisis relief. The food stores easily, transports quickly and has a shelf-life of two years.  Meal packaging events are mobile so the events can be held anywhere in the country.

For organizations, established companies or startups, meal-packaging events give volunteers hands-on experience in leadership development, team-building, relationship-building, creative problem-solving, and goal-setting and achievement.  This elevates social esteem of both the host companies and staff as this gives a tangible and concrete way to learn about hunger and get more involved in fighting it.

Here is a step by step guideline:

Get Started

Anyone willing to serve the hungry can host a meal packaging event.  Here is a simple step-by-step guide about how to host.

  1. Set a goal for the number of meals you will package.  Around 40 volunteers can package 10,152 meals in 2 hours.  The minimum number of meals is 10,000 for a packaging event in Bangalore and 20,000 meals outside Bangalore. There is no limit to the number of meals a group can package.  Meal packaging events can range from 10,000 meals to 1,000,000 meals.
  2. Contact Stop Hunger Now India office in Bangalore to discuss the details and schedule an event
  3. Recruit volunteers based on the number of meals you plan to package.
  4. Begin to fund your event.  All you need to raise is INR21 for each meal you package. You can run a campaign together with your friends, families, school or college mates to raise funds.  Contact Stop Hunger Now India Office for fundraising ideas or any other support you may need.
